Will following the majority opinion lead you astray?

In 1999 Reuters news service reported the actual events surrounding the assassination of a political candidate. Fredrico, the candidate, was running for the office of Mayor in a Brazil city, and was leading in the polls. The odd part was that Fredrico was a goat!

I know some of you ask “aren’t all politicians goats?” But, this one really was – the four-legged, grass-eating, animal variety! His owner suspected foul-play because he died foaming at the mouth. One internet commentator replied: “Foaming at the mouth? Typical politician!”

I am not bashing politicians. I am very glad to live in the nation I do, with the elected leaders we have. But there is an important lesson here – who are you allowing to lead your life? Jesus spoke of those who follow Him saying: “My sheep hear my voice and they follow Me…and I give eternal life to them.”

Who is leading your life and where are you going? To simply follow what’s popular or the majority vote could lead you astray!
